The Child’s Idea! ….approach is used to lead the activities in the classrooms. Its leads to an explosion of questions, theories and projects.
ABC teachers observe the children to gain understating of what interests them the most. From their observations the Teacher create strategies to challenge and provoke learning for increasing curiosity in your child. Overall, we work through collaborative projects to encourage the children to ask more questions and form a class project around their ideas. Through their projects, the children learn about social skills, peer group working, language, math, and sciences, etc.
Children’s initiatives starts with their curious questions being heard and ideas being developed into projects while incorporating daily confidence building skills like learning to go potty on their own, eating over the plate, pushing chairs in, cleaning up after themselves, using words to communicate to each other, respecting friends by asking before hugging, etc. It is learning in progress and the core of the child’s confidence is gained when they can say “I did it!” on their own.
It is through the various questions leading to “I will do it!” actions, self help, self problem solving and self driven activities that the ‘Self Initiative’ learning takes place.
