Transitional Kindergarten- TK

TKProgram

Welcome to our TK Program, for children 4-1/2 to 5-1/2 years of age. It is a multi-age class emphasizing on the child’s learning process, how to solve problems, start a project from an idea, execute it and describe it through individual/ group  presentations….. Going beyond the curriculum of KG.

ABC T-K teachers begin by observing the children to gain understating of what interests them the most and then create strategies to challenge and provoke learning for increasing curiosity in the child.

Children work through collaborative projects that encourage  more questions and form group projects around their ideas. It is through their ideas and interest topics, the children learn about social skills, peer group working, language, math, and sciences, etc while learning at their individual pace.

During their TK and Kindergarten readiness year, children are working at the advanced level of the projects, planning and leading the class projects and guiding the younger ones, which will give them a sense of responsibility, more analytical understanding and working with the teacher more on one to one learning.

The goals of our TK program are to:
1. Give a small re-visiting time to your child to all that he has learned so far.
2. Prepare the child for new acceptances,
3. The child is adequately well prepared to meet the first stage of the elementary school with confidence.
4. The child is equivalent or confidently ahead of what his new peers would be in the new elementary setting.
5. The child’s self-independence, self-motivation and self-esteem at the new place are very-very important for us to know we did our job well.

Day Program [8:45 am – 2:45 pm]:

The teachers observe the children to gain understating of what interests them the most. From their observations the Teacher is able to create strategies to challenge and provoke learning for increasing curiosity in the child. Overall, we work through collaborative projects to encourage the children to ask more questions and form a class project around their ideas. Through their projects, the children learn about social skills, peer group working, language, math, and sciences, etc.

Independent working educational activities take place majorly in the morning while afternoon earning is more dedicated to group activity learning Children have lunch together and then spend part of the afternoon asleep.Older chilren who have outgrown the nap are encouraged to do afternoon reading program or work on their individual work with their teacher.

At ABC Children’s Center, the complete program is formulated to build relationships and strengthen connections – between one child and another, between ourselves and the children in our care,  children and their families, children and the natural world, and the fundamentals of space, independence , friends and community.

Testimonials About ABC Children's Center

We were lucky enough to take a tour of ABC at a time when one spot opened up in their infant program, and snagged the spot.

I have two grandchildren that have been attending ABC for several years. The oldest is thriving in kindergarten now! Having started at ABC at 17 months old, I believe ABC had a great hand in preparing her.

Have known ABC for almost 20 years. I grew up around the area and now my kids go to ABC. The teachers are great! They really care about the children and their growth. They give customized suggestions to parents as they watch and see the child’s growth, which I am thankful for since I am a working mom.
